Isle of Wight Festival 2007
If I could ever book a Fantasy Festival, it would probably look something similar to last year’s splendid effort by Solo. Headliners included The Prodigy on Friday Night, Foo Fighters on Saturday, and Coldplay rounding up events nicely on Sunday evening. News on the 2007 festival has been rather scarce of late. Around this time of year we usually have an initial announcement of who is going to attend. So, to get the ball rolling, here are my three headliner predictions. This goes on the usual IoW festival theme of a dancey Friday night, a rock fuelled Saturday evening, and a more mainstream event on Sunday to finish.
Fri: Kylie (doubtful), Leftfield - I really struggled for a dance act here, it’s difficult to find something better than the Prodigy, although Kylie is a rather obtuse choice compare to those guys ![]()
Sat: Muse, Red Hot Chili Peppers - these guys have to come to the Isle of Wight at some stage.
Sun: Snow Patrol - please, please, back again for the 2nd time, did an absolutely splendid job first time round so I was told.
Who would you want to see?

How about Moby for Friday night? He does a cracking live set. I also like to see Banco De Gaia, but I doubt he’s famous enough to headline.
I still haven’t got The Killer’s second album, but if it’s half as good as the first they should be worth an invite.

I forgot about Moby. His live set is amazing. Killers could play Sunday night, I’d be fine with that

Lol, nice linkage
I am a little worried about the festival this year, I have a very funny feeling it will be Solos last. I don’t think the Killers would ever be welcome while Solo are involved.
Anyway my predictions:
Fri: Basement Jaxx
Sat: Kizers - new album out soon, and ready to headline, terrific live.
Sun: The Police, reunion
Would love to see Moby again. Fat Boy Slim would be nice!

So i’ve been told this may well be the last festival held on the island as a certain political party for the island want to stop the festival completely if they come into play.
Not good.
Anyway.
With any luck…
Friday: Basement Jaxx would be incredible, they’re music is so funky and would get anyone interested.
Fat Boy Slim would also be good or maybe even the scissor sisters, they seemed keen on returning to the island after playing the Bestival.
Saturday: The killers would be amazing. I dont really want to see Muse or Red Hot Chillies, as much as people rant and rave about their music somehow i dont thik it would be festival worthy. The Feeling would be excellent or the Fratellis.
Sunday: I would love to see snow patrol. Big Rumours now being heard and apparently during a radio one interview Snow Partol revealed their festivals they were going to play and the island was a yes.
Hope to see lots of people there this year. Shame islanders don’t get a discount this time.
Personally I cannot wait until the bestival again!

Fri: Leftfield would be great! I only know the Leftism album and I love it. I want to see The Pridigy again and Faithless.
Sat: MUSE should be kidnapped and forced to play for a full 24 hours.
Sun: There’s rumours in the local paper about Snow Patrol and they seem to have lots of fans so I’d let them come for a bit. Then Bens Police reunion, doing their hits and covering a few Bob Marley songs. Then Take That, so that half the crowd go crazy and the other half want to go home and hide under their beds. Then at about 6pm let MUSE out of their cage and force them to play for another 5 hours. Ending the night with Ken Dodd singing Happiness.

FRIDAY: god knows. Brand New, CKY, all that shizz
SATURDAY: Muse. Muse. Muse. Evryone wants them to go.
And they’ve won a million awards for best live act.
So yeah, get ‘em pleaseeeeeee! The Fratellis, Just Jack, Jamie T, Helogoodbye.
SUNDAY: Snow Patrol would be so, so , so amazing. I mean, look at the past performances, they’ve had such incredibly fantastic responses. They have said that they would love to play here. YEAH.

sweet
Snow Patrol let slip on Radio 1 the other night that they were playing, so maybe… This isn’t going to be popular but I wouldn’t book them in a million years, sorry everyone, just not my cup of tea.
Friday: The Go! Team. Or Faithless (I know they’ve played before but I missed that one and I’ve never seen them live).
Saturday: Seeing as this is a Fantasy Festival I can have whoever I want right? So I’d have the Beta Band… they’re split up now but they were awesome every time I saw them.
Sunday: Bob Dylan. It’d never happen. But that’s the beauty of Fantasy Festivals. (;-) Shameless, innit!)

I just discovered The Sounds. Not your father’s Swedish pop sensations. Mind you, I should talk, I’m old enough for them to remind me of Blondie… Anyway, cross your fingers that they might grace the IoW

Think its gonna be huge this year, big year for bands.
Friday, Basement jaxx!! sa them last year and they rocked, really ould get everyone going for the weekend. also chemical brothers would be awesome!!!!!!!
Saturday, dont think they will but killers would be great, and plenty of good tunes to go with now, stereophonics would be amazing and id love to see them again, top class live. keeping fingers crossed.
Sunday, snow patrol is obvious by now, which would great be after their last album, police or genesis would be cool i here both reforming and touring. the coral do a great set too. and the zutons to wind down. and along with fantasy i heard 2pac and eminem are dueting!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all, well i was reading all your comments and they all sound brilliant but its a shame that they all cant cum
Friday: id luv too see basement jaxx along wiv snow patrol, that wud b a great start for the weekend to see them 2. Also if basement jaxx cudnt go id hav moby or fatboy slim but it will be hard to beat prodigy, they were freekin imense!!!
saturday: Id like to see summink more modern for saturday night, every1 keeps mentioning RHCP but personally i dnt think they’d have a good effect ion the crowd. The best line up would probably have to be MCR ( new album is pretty good ) then followed by muse ( also latest album is pretty good ). Personally, id luv too see fall out boy but i think they wouldn’t come and i dont think they wud suit the IOW festival style.
Sunday: People are talking about re-united bands liek hot chocolate or police but then that would just be aiming at the older section of fans but were it is the final night, they would have to cover all sections of the crowds tastes so i would have to say the killers but i somehow dont see them coming, besides its rumoured they have said they are definately not going so :S im stuck on sunday really. Take that would onli make half the crowd happy, for instance the female section, i cant see many men singing along to patience and shine haha. So ill have to go wiv FALL out boy lol there new album is a really good album!

The 07 isle of wight festival was great, but i think the only band in the world who could blast the iow 08 would be The Killers!! to headline. Live they are fantasico!!!!!

September 14th, 2007 at 6:40 pm
hay|!! further to my last comments about The Killers and the trend of Solo to book british bands, i think it would be a great move to try and book Oasis???? what do others think.
